The RUPIV: Structure and Function
The University Network for Innovation in the Valley of Quack - RUPIV - is structured similarly to a partnership with a Whole of Directors and Representatives of the Research Office, which are all member universities, the latter being the main forum for debate and decision.
For coordination, the plenary is adopting a Permanent Technical Secretariat that elected biannually and consists of a coordinator and an assistant, is responsible for conducting the work program of the network and overall coordination with the Working Groups RUPIV. The registry would also be responsible for administrative tasks of the meetings, such as subpoenas, prepare agendas, moderating meetings, minutes, and the socialization of information.
The RUPIV: Your Working groups
cooperation between the various members of RUPIV and network interaction are specified in the various working groups which are named below. RUPIV additionally has a Technical Secretariat to lead and coordinate all processes and activities of the Network.
- WORKING GROUP COMMUNICATION: assumes the objective of contributing to the spread of activities (events, seminars, meetings, skills, etc.). RUPIV by the organization of specialized training modules and the development of methodologies for support. He is responsible for coordinating and implementing the training plan of the RUPIV.
- WORKING GROUP ON TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT: aims to address methods for evaluating the commercial potential technologies or innovations generated in universities and public research organizations.
- WORKING GROUP ON INDICATORS: starts and manages the proper tools to measure the activity of the RUPIV. Is responsible for the design and implementation RUPIV annual survey, designed to monitor the activity of transferring knowledge from universities and the Valle del Cauca RUPIV action on it.
- CONTRACTS WORKING GROUP - INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: this working group's main purpose is to deepen the technical, legal (intellectual property), economic and budgetary research contracts.
- WORKING GROUP OF REALIZATION OF RESOURCES: its objective to identify possible sources of national and international funding to increase the participation of research groups from universities in the RED in the R + D + i.
- WORKING GROUP IN STRATEGIC PLANNING: this working group's main purpose is the design, development and control of the Strategic Development Plan of the RUPIV.
- EU COORDINATING COMMITTEE: this working group aims to coordinate activities among representatives to the committee by the productive sectors strategic and rectors of universities in the RED.
- WORKING GROUP DYNAMICS OF COMMITTEE UNIVERESIDAD-ENTERPRISE SECTORS: this working group aims to stimulate fundamental activities between strategic productive sectors and different groups of university research.
RUPIV: INDICATORS OF ACTIVITY
The following are some indicators representing the activity of universities in R + D + I and transfer of knowledge, developed from information obtained from the universities through the survey that annually launches RUPIV own Network
1) Number of Projects
The hiring of university research capabilities by firms and other actors has been a basic tool in the supportive role undertaken by the RUPIV since its inception in the System vallecauacano Innovation.
2) Protection of research results and licensing
The RUPIV is increasingly aware of the importance of adequate protection of research results.
3) New technology-based companies

Despite being one of the fields emerging course of action, the generation of new Technology-Based Companies from Innovative knowledge and inventions generated in the university environment is being examined more closely by the universities of RUPIV.
